Issue: In South Africa, young people in townships are grappling with various challenges due to limited opportunities. This includes a lack of proper education, few job options, and insufficient support systems. These obstacles create a cycle where it's tough for them to move up in society, stunting their personal growth and hindering progress for everyone.
Goal: To empower underserved youth in the Ndlambe Municipality, providing them with comprehensive opportunities to actively engage in society and pursue their full potential.
Beneficiaries: 600 youth in various programs and 4000 visitors at campaign events per year
Objectives
Forge Partnerships
Collaborate with existing activity providers—sports, adventure, music, dance, art, among others—to offer free or affordable access to underserved youth. Develop new activities where necessary.
Structured Engagement
A monthly schedule is developed and youth access to activities, at least four times a month, is facilitated.
Youth Centres
The program is executed across three designated youth centres—Sunshine Life Center, Nemato Change a Life, and Robert Veenstra Center.
Technology and Learning Access
Youth are provided access to necessary tech equipment and the internet. Online learning, networking, and digital literacy skills development are facilitated.
Intergration
Facilitate youth access to Employment and Enterprise Development Programs. Integrate the youth program with Substance Abuse Programs to improve over all well-being.
Campaign Development
A comprehensive youth campaign is implemented using events, social media, printed media, radio, and other platforms to foster hope, raise awareness about the program, and offer guidance to youth.
