About the Relief Program
Issue: Many individuals residing in South African Townships struggle to meet the country's food poverty line, experiencing hunger on several days each week and facing a scarcity of nutritious meals resulting in hunger and malnutrition. These individuals live in shacks and informal settlements, lacking essential services and enduring leaking homes during rainfall. Insufficiencies in food, clothing, bedding, lighting, cooking fuel, and household equipment further exacerbate their living conditions.
Goal: To ensure that all residents in Ndlambe have access to essential relief services, encompassing food, clothing, bedding, household supplies, and improved infrastructure.
Beneficiaries: Per year 240 households are assisted with food, clothes, and bedding parcels and 60 with house maintenance
Objectives
Emergency Relief Support
Clients who are facing basic needs challenges are provided with immediate relief support, including a basic food parcel, urgent household necessities, house repairs and access to soup kitchen drop points.
Household Assessments
Thorough house assessments are done to verify the needs of the household and identify capacity building opportunities for family members to receive continued support and sustainable solutions.
Gift Depot Management
Establish and manage a gift depot to collect contributions from the public. Gifts are processed, categorized, stored, and distributed to those in need. Detailed records are kept of all gifts and relief parcels through a comprehensive inventory schedule.
