Issue: In South Africa, the overall unemployment rate stands at 33%, significantly higher at 60% for township residents. Many in these communities rely on non-permanent day labour due to a lack of occupational skills, with a considerable number having discontinued formal education.

Goal: To empower residents of Ndlambe, enhancing their job readiness, improving work experience, and providing access to a comprehensive job placement service and database.

Beneficiaries: 165 clients per year


Objectives

Partnerships for Skill Enhancement

Collaborate with businesses and the Sunshine Tourism and Business Forum to offer underserved people opportunities for work shadowing and internships, fostering skill development and work experience.

Training Initiatives

Conduct a monthly training course focused on work readiness, financial literacy, and life skills to equip participants with essential competencies.

Support for Employment Readiness

Aid trainees in developing CVs, provide vocational guidance and add their profiles to a local employment database to enhance visibility to potential employers.

Integration with Employment Portals

Assist trainees in accessing employment portals like Harambee and JobStarter to broaden their job-seeking opportunities.

Facilitate Internships and Job Placement

Coordinate access to internships and assist participants in securing employment opportunities through proactive support and guidance.
